Is teaching fun?

I am not a teacher in the school system. I wonder if teaching today is fun? Does McCourt give you a sense of whether or not he thought teaching was fun? Does he seem to have enjoyed his time in the classroom? What do you think? And do you think that teaching should be fun for the teacher?
