Zoroastrianism and food

Zoroastrianism was once the dominant religion of much of Iran. It is described as being dualistic in nature. Foods, like people have a nature-hot or cold. As the author states in the reader's guide at the end of the book, most modern day Iranians believe in the system of gastonomic balancing. Good health is achieved when there is a balance. In the book, Marjan watches her sister Bahar, feeding her food based upon her state of mind. Do you think food can help people achieve a balance? Have you considered the properties of food when you are cooking for others?
