Why read?

Elizabeth Gilbert had a problem and, since she is a writer, she wrote about it. Also, since she is a writer, she was able to do something special about it (travel) and get paid for it. So why should you read about her problem? Would you be able to do what she did to change her situation? Most likely not. So, why read about what she did? Why did you decide to read the book?
