One of the most heartbreaking stories on the news at the time of Katrina was the story of Hardy Jackson's wife who was swept away by the storm surge and was interviewed on television right afterwards. He said he held her hand tight and she told him "take care of the kids and grandkids" but then she was "gone." Two years later, the family held a memorial service in Biloxi, MS for Mr. Jackson's wife Tonette. He is still upset because they never found her body. He moved to Palmetto, GA, hundreds of miles from the Gulf Coast. A radio station in North Carolina made the service possible by paying for the family to fly down to Bilox and learning that the Jacksons could not afford a memorial service. www.cbs46.com/news/14147614/detail.html
Do you think that the press coverage of Mr. Jackson's story is a good thing or a bad thing? Does it help the rest of us to understand what happened?
